Calculate your ideal body weight using four clinically developed formulas. Results are shown individually and averaged for the most balanced estimate.
Each formula was developed by different researchers for different populations. Devine (1974) was originally designed for pharmaceutical dosing. Robinson (1983) and Miller (1983) were designed as refinements. Hamwi (1964) is commonly used in clinical nutrition. No single formula is universally superior — the average gives the most balanced result.
These formulas give a statistical ideal, not a prescription. Heavily muscled individuals will weigh more than their "ideal" but still be perfectly healthy. The BMI healthy range (shown above) is a broader, more practical target for most people.
